    Pets 2 Vets

    Pets 2 Vets (P2V), http://p2v.org, seeks to alleviate the psychological suffering of our nation’s heroes and to reduce the number of sheltered animals in the United States by: * Aiding our active duty military and military veterans, law enforcement officers, emergency first responders, and their families with rehabilitation through animal companionship * Saving shelter animals from euthanasia by providing them with a loving home * Increasing public awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other challenges facing today’s heroes * Rallying support for animal welfare and the adoption of sheltered animals. P2V is a non-clinical and non-facility based organization that places special emphasis on creating mutually beneficial opportunities for sheltered animals, some who might otherwise be euthanized, and our nation’s service men and women by accessing the expertise of medical care professionals and animal welfare organizations. P2V is an Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) program that recognizes the incredible power of the human-animal relationship and seeks to support those suffering from psychological stress as they pursue recovery with the unconditional love of a pet.

    Mid-Atlantic green job portal goes online

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland labor officials said Tuesday that job seekers have a new online tool for finding green jobs. The state's labor department announced Tuesday the launch of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Collaborative's Green Works Jobs Portal. The online service provides free job search and recruitment tools for jobseekers and employers in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The regional collaborative also released an analysis of green jobs in the region. The employer survey found the region has about 235,000 employees involved in the production or provision of green products and services. Those employees represent between 3 percent and 4 percent of total jobs in the region with energy efficiency and conservation accounting for the most jobs.
